Monday 1800-1900

Aimed at people who have never done Pilates before, or suitable for improvers or those wanting to go back to basics . It is also aimed for people with medical conditions which affects their avility to exercise.

Pilates − What’s it all about?
  • Pilates is a low-impact method of body conditioning which uses controlled, precise exercises to develop flexibility, endurance and strength. The main emphasis involves improving posture, especially of the spine, and developing better body awareness and biomechanics. This helps to reduce the risk of injury in both sport and day to day activities.
  • Pilates is not a fast cardio workout. Don’t expect to burn fat, get out of breath or work up a sweat!
  • Pilates is not spiritual, like yoga, but it does belong in the mind-body family of exercise disciplines. There is no meditation, but expect to use your brain cells at least as hard as you work your muscles. If you want to better understand how your body works and how to look after it in the long term, Pilates is an excellent way to exercise.

Why practice Pilates?
The benefits of regular Pilates practice include:
  • Improved posture
  • Increased core strength and stability
  • Better balance, coordination and body awareness
  • Rebalancing of muscles around the joints, which can help reduce aches and pains
  • Healthy balance between strength and flexibility
  • Improved performance and reduced injury risk in a wide range of sports
  • An active and alert brain − who needs sudoku?
